The wide-set lush lips and seemingly innocent brown eyes of Brooklyn-born breathy brunette Anne Hathaway are keeping a secret. At least she thinks she’s keeping a secret. Even when Anne’s mouth breaks into a widespread smile of pearly white delight, the gorgeous girl behind that flash of invitational tease seems to think that her true deep nature remains hidden. What does harrowingly heavenly Hathaway take us for, blind morons? Are we intended to not notice that hers is a torso worth tossing away one’s entire life’s possessions and pursuits on the merest chance of holding and manhandling it for just the briefest flicker of time? Anne gave hints of the Hathaway honey as Meghan Green in the farcical Fox family drama Get Real. In Havoc (2004), we get a taste of her princess dairies. Two terms of endearment in Havoc’s favor: Bijou Phillips as a co-star and menage-a-trois as a plot point. And what’s the next logical career step for a gorgeous up-and-comer who’s bared her beans in an indie? Baring beans in a big-budget picture, of course. When Anne served up her li’l dogies in the gay cowboy flick Brokeback Mountain (2005), it made everyone wonder why the male leads went homo on the range.
